Secretary's Spot August 2017

As the summer days get shorter and we all head into that less attractive part of the year it at least beckons a time to brush down those ritual books and start to think about a new Masonic Season.

I will be sending members a complete list of dates for all our meetings by the end of August as we will be starting LOIs earlier this year by popular demand in September, the details and location of which will be advised in the notice accompanying the new dates.

We also have some other events planned / or in the planning stages which again will be advised with the new season information when it arrives.

I assume you all spent the summer on the beach and well away from your PCs as nobody has yet asked me for the answers to the various quizzes posted prior to the break!

If you did attempt or are still attempting any of the competitions then please let me know as I will not close these out until after our first meeting in October.

I am keen this season to get more of you to contribute to our website and will be holding my own initiative in this respect as the site is not only a good means of communication between members but a window to the world to promote what we do and the benefits we contribute to the community in general.

Recruitment is still high on all our agendas at whatever level you are within the Fraternity and we as a Lodge should actively continue to seek new membership in accordance with the advice given by UGLE.

We need young blood and as a Lodge I believe we are actively and gradually fulfilling this requirement but must not ease up on our mission. To all you younger members that are now taking over the helm, it will fall upon you to keep the re-generation going if the future of the Lodge is to be assured.

I am looking forward to another successful season at Heritage and the good fun and camaraderie that we share together.

Andrew has chosen two charities to support this season being The Epilepsy Trust at Lingfield and The Help The Heroes, both of which we hope we can make substantial contributions to at the end of his year in the Chair.

In this respect, we have some guests coming to our November meeting from The TLC Appeal to receive a presentation cheque for monies raised in Ozan’s year.

I look forward to seeing you all again in September / October and trust that you are all well and eager to contribute to another season.

Tony Saunders
