Secretary's Spot - March 2017

A new year already nearly three months gone and we are now looking forward to our Installation meeting In March.

January’s meeting was dedicated to a further lecture from W.Bro. Ray Hudson who left us all in ore and mindful that we all had much more to learn from his excellent delivery of ‘So you think you know about Freemasonry – Part 2)!

Ray’s unique knowledge of the Craft (and side degrees of which he informs us his is a member of every one!!) is an inspiration to not only to our younger Brethren but our more experienced members alike.

A big thank you from all of us who attended and we look forward to his company again on a future occasion.

I am sure our Worshipful Master will agree that his year has flown past and I for one would like to congratulate him on the splendid way that he undertook his duties during his year in office.

The Lodge under his direction has donated to several well deserving smaller charities over the year including the local Scout Group who responded with a very nice letter which we have attached to our website in appreciation of our contribution to their new roof appeal.

It has been most gratifying to target smaller local charities outside of a Festival period who otherwise might struggle for funding and seems to me a clear example of ‘Freemasonry in the Community’ and can only assist in raising awareness of our profile to the ‘world in general’.

Our March meeting promises to be one to remember as I already have 45 Brethren who have pledged to attend and extend our tradition of Father & Son installations!

I am still waiting for articles of interest from our own members and starting to think that we have all forgotten the art of writing in an age of emails, texts and other popular media – come on chaps you may be surprised what others may see of interest!!

To anyone outside the Craft who may have wandered onto our site and is interested in learning more about Freemasonry or even on how to become a member then please do not hesitate to contact us and / or the main United Grand Lodge of England website where you will find some very good general and contact information.
